Description
This is a 40x50 inches canvas done using oils , acrylics done in impasto impressionistic style using thick paints with Pallet Knifes.
As M. A. Steinberger said, a racing saddle will allow a horse to go fastest. This is less about the weight than it is about balance. As she pointed out, having the rider’s weight directly over the withers provides the least amount of interference with the horse’s movement. Weight is an issue because the horse will tire more quickly with more weight and thus slow down.
So, the horse with the most balanced rider will outrun an equally fast horse with a poor rider, almost regardless of saddle. Of course, when we’re talking about top tier horse racing, the jockeys are more equally skilled (athletically) than the horses. Strategy (and luck) starts to matter most.
So, if a lightweight saddle that puts the rider over the withers helps a horse run its fastest, why do barrel racers use western saddles? (Keep in mind that a barrel racing saddle is a completely different animal from a roping saddle even if they look superficially similar.) Aside from tradition, the main answer is the turns. If you watch barrel racers, you’ll see that they do stand up and lean forward on the straightaways, but they have to sit down to make those incredibly tight turns (and many use the horn for balance as well). I don’t think any barrel racer could run a pattern at their speediest time with no saddle.
